The 10th international conference on Frontiers of Electron Microscopy in Materials Science was held at the >>> Kasteel Vaalsbroek in the Netherlands. The property is located at the bordering point of three countries - the Netherlands, Germany and Belgium and offers modern, technologically advanced meeting space, even within the 600 year old castle. The authentically restored castle, dating as far back as 1420, combines the splendor of the past with the comfort and technology of the present, tastefully weaving them into a picturesque setting that presents irresistible charm.
The centrepiece of the 130-room hotel is the 14th century Kasteel Vaalsbroek. The hotel features luxurious, spacious guest rooms, junior suites and suites, all tastefully appointed and offering guests views of the surrounding hills of Limburg. Aachen, Maastricht and Luik are all within 30 minutes or less of the property. The nearby city of Maastricht is regarded as the oldest and most beautiful Dutch city. First established by the Romans around 50 BC, Maastricht is filled with historic sites and a cast assortment of charming pubs, museums, fashionable boutiques and romantic cobble-stoned streets. A stone's throw away is the German city of Aachen with its rich imperial history. Aachen Cathedral (Dom) and the Townhall (Rathaus) are just two of the many interesting attractions of this formerly glorious city. If going partly by rail to Vaalsbroek, it is recommended to travel to Aachen Hbf (Hauptbahnhof - main station) and to hail a taxi to Vaalsbroek at costs of about "EUR" 15.00 for covering the final distance of about eight kilometres. |
